Last updated 10 October 2026. Cambridge publishes official dates through schools; confirm with your exams officer and cambridgeinternational.org.

When are the next O Level exams?

As of October 2026, the June 2026 series is finished, the October/November 2026 series is running, and the next main series is May/June 2027.

SeriesExam windowO Level results
June 2026 (done)23 April to 9 June 202618 August 2026
November 2026 (now)Late September to mid-November 202614 January 2027
June 2027 (next)Not yet public; expect late April to early JuneNot yet public; June results usually come in August

The June 2026 and November 2026 dates are from Cambridge's own key dates documents (June 2026, November 2026). Cambridge has made provisional June 2027 timetables available to schools on its Direct portal (Cambridge exams officer newsletter), and for June 2026 the final timetable came out in late October. Timetables differ by administrative zone, so get yours from your school, not a random PDF online.

Entries matter too. For June 2026, the final entries deadline was 21 February and late entries closed on 17 April. Private candidates should contact their exam centre early.

How are O Levels graded?

Cambridge O Level is graded A*, A, B, C, D and E, with A* the highest; anything below E is ungraded (Cambridge help centre). Grade thresholds change each series, so there is no fixed "90% = A*". Look at the published grade thresholds for past series to see roughly what you need.

For university admissions in Pakistan, the IBCC converts O Level grades to marks for equivalence. One commonly cited scale (published by NU) is A* 90%, A 85%, B 75%, C 65%, D 55% and E 45%. Check the current scale with the IBCC.

Which O Level subjects do Pakistani students need?

Pakistani students who sit O Levels in Pakistan generally need eight subjects for IBCC equivalence to matric, including English, Mathematics, Urdu, Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies, plus three electives, each at grade E or above (Eduvision IBCC guidance). Your electives (sciences, Computer Science, Accounting, Economics and so on) should match what you want to study at A Level. Rules can change, so confirm on ibcc.edu.pk.

Cambridge O Level Pakistan Studies has two papers: the history and culture of Pakistan, and the environment of Pakistan, each 1 hour 30 minutes (Cambridge help centre).

How do I start O Level preparation?

Start O Level preparation by downloading each subject's syllabus for your exam year and turning it into a checklist.

  1. Get the right syllabus. Check the subject code and the exam years on the cover. Syllabuses change, and using an old one is a classic mistake.
  2. Make a checklist. List every topic and learning point. Tick each one when you can explain it and answer a past-paper question on it.
  3. Learn the assessment objectives. The syllabus says how marks split between knowledge, application and analysis. That tells you how to study.
  4. Learn the command words. "State", "describe", "explain", "suggest" and "evaluate" each want a different answer. Cambridge lists them in the syllabus.

How do I prepare for O Levels 2027 (the May/June series)?

Plan O Level revision by working backwards from your first paper (expect late April) in three phases.

  1. October to January, cover content: Finish every topic. After each, do topical past-paper questions on it.
  2. February to March, full papers: One timed full paper per subject per week, every component (Paper 1, Paper 2 and so on).
  3. April, polish: Error notebook, short notes, definitions, and the questions you keep getting wrong.

With 8 or more subjects, rotate: 2 to 3 subjects a day in 25 to 50 minute blocks. The Pomodoro technique helps here, and a weekly study timetable keeps every subject moving.

How should I use O Level past papers?

Use O Level past papers in two stages: topical questions while learning, then full timed papers.

  1. Topical first. After each topic, answer every past-paper question on it from the last several years.
  2. Then full papers. Time them exactly. Many papers come in more than one variant per series, so do every variant you can find.
  3. Mark with the official mark scheme. Learn the exact phrases that earn marks.
  4. Read the examiner report. It tells you where most candidates lost marks. Free marks, honestly.
  5. Keep an error notebook. Retry mistakes after 3 days and again after a week.

Official papers, mark schemes and examiner reports are shared with schools through Cambridge's School Support Hub, so ask your teacher. More on method in how to use past papers.

How do I prepare each O Level subject type?

Each O Level subject type rewards a different habit, so match your practice to how the subject is marked.

  • Mathematics and Additional Mathematics: Daily problems. Show working; method marks are generous.
  • Physics, Chemistry and Biology: Learn definitions in mark-scheme wording, practise calculations with units, and prepare for the practical or alternative-to-practical paper with real experiment steps.
  • English Language: Write one timed piece a week and get feedback. Read widely.
  • Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies: Point-form, well-structured answers with relevant detail. Practise timed essays.
  • Urdu: Practise timed composition and comprehension.
  • Computer Science: Write and trace pseudocode by hand.

What should I do in the final month before O Levels?

In the final month, do full timed papers, revise from short notes and read examiner reports for every subject. Sleep 7 to 8 hours, especially in a busy week with two papers a day. On exam day, arrive early, read every question carefully, use command words to shape each answer, and match your answer length to the marks on offer.

Chasing A*s is a great goal. Toppers are built, not crammed: understand the syllabus, practise daily, and learn from every mistake. Next step after O Levels? See the A Level guide.

How can Qurricular help O Level students?

Qurricular is a board exam prep app for Pakistani students from Class 9 to A Level. For Cambridge O Level, the syllabus is mapped topic by topic and content is still being added. Today you can upload your own notes and past papers and ask Ryder, the AI study partner, to explain them in English or Urdu, use the Pomodoro and focus timers, and try the physics and chemistry labs before a practical. See our Cambridge hub.
